What's a Fakoodle?

I've been asking myself that for over 2 weeks now, as 2 very clever mamas here in Austin built some pretty incredible hype around the launch of their new website - Fakoodle.com.

Once I found out more about it, I couldn't wait to tell y'all about it!

How many of y'all love Pinterest?  I do - it's a great resource.  But what used to be a source of inspiration, quickly became a place of insecurity.  Man, some people can make their homes look amazing and bake the cutest cupcakes, craft the sweetest party decorations, or make the most delicious-looking meals.  Not me. All my dinners flopped.  Birthday decorations were a pitiful mess and a pain to make.  And that really easy "frame within a frame"? It's in the back of a closet somewhere.  Crafting & Cooking are not my talents.  And frankly, I just don't enjoy them.

But there are tons of mamas out there that do! And that is where Fakoodle fits in.

Fakoodle is an online tool to connect mamas who love to with mamas who don't want to. Or should I say - "Mamas who can with Mamas who can't?" <----- that would be me! On fakoodle, Mamas can list their talents that they like to do in an online marketplace for those that need and want help.

For example, I CAN STAND coming up with what to cook for dinner.  I would happily pay someone to come up with a monthly rotating meal plan that fits my family. I don't want to take the time to do it and I know there is someone out there that would LOVE to.  And there just so happens to be a listing on Fakoodle just for that.  Done.

Fakoodle has all sorts of categories - crafting, lessons, sewing, events, baking, etc. And if you don't find  what you are looking for, just put an ad out explaining what you need help with.

It's about Mamas helping Mamas - we can't do it all y'all.  That's what I love most about this new site - it's more than just a Craig's List- like marketplace.  It's a great place to come together to help each other, to make new friends, to become a "tribe".

Go on over and check it out.  Listings are completely free.  And transactions occur between Mamas privately.  If you place a listing before Sunday, you will be entered to win $25 in Fakoodle bucks as a thank you for joining so early.

Right now, it is only available in the Austin area.  But I can see Fakoodle taking off and going far.  I think it is a BRILLIANT idea.  So the next time you plan that baby shower and don't want to tackle the decorations, pop over on Fakoodle and find someone who would love to do it for you!

Brilliant idea! (And I'm glad to know that I'm not the only mom who doesn't love crafting and cooking!)
