5 Cool Things to Do at the Klyde Warren Park ~ Dallas, TX

One of the coolest parks in the entire state of Texas lies on top of a highway that divides Uptown Dallas from Downtown Dallas. The Klyde Warren Park in downtown Dallas opened late fall of 2012.  This 5.2 acre park creates an urban green space over the Woodall Rodgers Freeway.

On a recent trip to Dallas, we spent the afternoon at the Klyde Warren Park.  My kids enjoyed it so much, they didn’t want to leave.  And here’s why:

5 Cool Things to Do at the Klyde Warren Park:
1. Read a Book, Play a Game – The Dallas Morning News sponsors the Reading & Games Room.  This outdoor “room” offers books, newspapers, and board games  to play in the park.  Check out a book or a game by simply leaving your ID.  It was such fun to “check out” Candyland with the kids and play a game or two among the big towers of downtown Dallas.
2. Play some Ping-Pong or Putt-Putt – The East lawn of the park offers all sorts of fun for all ages.  Free of charge, you can play fooseball, ping-pong, and putt-putt.  All equipment is here for you to use.

3. Take a Class – From Yoga to Boot Camp, all kinds of fitness classes are offered daily.  The day we were there, dog training, petanque classes, and a Dallas Skyline Tour were being taught.  Check here to see a daily schedule.
4. Eat at a Food Truck – Coming later this year, Relish & Savor will be opening as a restaurant & take-out cafĂ©.  In the meantime, there are several fun & unique food trailers that are here daily.  Check out the schedule here.
5. Play with your Child (or your Dog) -  The Klyde Warren Park offers both a great play area for your kids and a fun dog park for your canines.  Climbing structures, tunnels, and a water park are available to play on in the Children’s Park. There is also a child-sized amphitheatre and story-telling tree.  Chick here for the daily activities happening in the Children’s Park.

My Best Friend’s Park is a special place just for dogs.  Featuring a long run, & water fountains, it’s a great place to make friends too.
Of course there is LOTS more to do at the Klyde Warren Park – free and live music, chess games, special classes from the Perot Museum and more are always on the schedule.  Next time you are in Dallas, take the time to visit this very cool and very urban park.

While you are in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area, here are more fun things to try:
