Friday Daydreamin': Where Do You Love?

That's right - I want to know WHERE are the places you LOVE?  What is the best vacation spot that you LOVE? What is the perfect place you LOVE to go for solitude?  Where is the best place to get your favorite slice of pizza that you LOVE?  WHERE do you LOVE?

My heart goes pitter-pat every single time I think of this moment in my life.  Matt & I had the privilege of a private tour of the Sistine Chapel and it will be a one of those times you will remember for the rest of you life.  I had purposely read The Agony & The Ecstasy by Irving Stone (a biographical novel of Michelango) before going, so I really felt connected to the time he spent painting the ceiling and The Last Judgement (this wall).  It was absolutely breathtaking thinking of how many years ago he created this masterpiece (completed in 1541) and I was seeing it in person.

We were only in it for 20 minutes, but they were glorious - I took in each panel on the ceiling and tried to imagine Michelango on a scaffold painting each day for year after year. I felt the importance of the chapel, knowing that each of the Papel Conclaves are held in here.  And I felt Michelango pure agony of painting his self portrait in The Last Judgement (it is he as the loose skin held by St. Bartholomew in the center of the picture).

This is absolutely a place that I love dearly - and probably a moment I will never be able to recreate.

BTW, this is my personal picture - we were allowed to snap photos with the flash off.

Show us Where YOU LOVE.  Link up your post below and make sure you take some time today to visit some of the other links - everyone loves a little comment love!

We visited the Sistine Chapel last summer and I agree that it's one of those experiences that cannot be forgotten - such incredible beauty!

We were at the Sistine chapel last year and probably spent the same amount of time here as the Vatican Museum. It was one of my WOW moments too. Beautiful photo!

A private tour would have been incredible. We did the shuffle through with hordes or tourist in Nov. 2008. It was still unbelievably impressive, but also jam packed and they weren't allowing any photos (I still snuck a few.)
Now if you want to talk pasta, there was a spot off the Piazza Navona that served the best pesto linguine I have ever had in my life. I could go on and on about it for days.

I must agree that the Sistine Chapel was breathtaking! Erik and I went and just the walk to get to the chapel had ceilings of paintings on them with gold and I remember them telling us not to take pictures-- you got lucky they let you do it without the flash.... I turned my camera up towards the ceiling so no one would see and took pictures anyway. Going to a place like that-- you don't want to forget! And the line to get in was so worth it!

That is an amazing picture. I have never had an urge to see the Sistine Chapel before seeing this picture. That is really amazing.

I am a lover of places. I have loved just about every place I've lived or visited, and there have been a lot. I really miss New York and New Orleans and am always up to visit them.

I also really want to go all over South America.

Or on vacation at all.

I'm lucky number 13! You are so blessed to have seen that...so many people (me, boo) will never get to see that... **sighs**

This is one of must-dos and I've been waiting until I felt the kids were old enough to appreciate it. May have to bump that timetable up, though . . . .

What a great photo...Can't wait to take my kids to Italy. That is going to take some serious planning with so much to see there.

Looks much more brilliant than the last time I saw it. They must have cleaned it up.

Serious question here. You've read the books. Is there a meaning behind who gets clothes in these pictures and who doesn't? I've always wondered.
Outside of that random thought, beautiful picture, and what a great opportunity. I'm very jealous.

The Sixtine Chapel is one of my favourite places, too. I dream of having it all to myself once... or at least not share it with quite as many. You got a stunning shot there.
