Friday Daydreamin': Remembrance

Happy Friday friends! Time for Friday Daydreamin'! My favorite day of the week as I get to armchair vacation through all of your lovely photos!!

I can hardly believe it has been almost 12 years since that fateful September 11.  Such a horrific day that I will remember for the rest of my life.  I was in New York on business when it happened - No where near the Twin Towers - and it took us 3 days to get home.

Last fall, I traveled to New York and had the incredible opportunity to see the new National September 11 Memorial & Museum a few days after it had been dedicated.  It was incredibly well-done.  A glorious memorial for all those that lost their lives, yet such an incredibly sad place.

And it was the items like this rose, placed in a loved ones' etched name that touched your heart.  May we never forget.

Write a post featuring your favorite vacation photos. Link up your post below ad take some time to enjoy everyone's shots.  They are an incredible way to learn about some new places!

Beautiful and touching picture! I can't imagine how you felt being in NY 12 years ago. We visited last June and it was such a wonderful memorial. I'm planning that post for this Tues.

Your photo and words are a lovely tribute. It is so hard to believe that it's been eleven years -- still hard to believe it really happened sometimes. I'm eager to see the memorial and museum next time in NYC.

Great picture and post. It's crazy how fast time passes. I haven't been to NYC - neither before nor since 9/11, but the memorial looks like a sombering yet beautiful place to visit.

I am flying to Washington DC on Sept. 11th next week. I will certainly be remembering that day when I board the plane! A beautiful and timely post.

Visiting the memorial must be incredibly moving. Being in NYC when it happened must have been scary. On last year's anniversary, I posted about what it's like to observe 9/11 from a Muslim country.

Lovely capture! I always liked B&W pics too but never posted one in my blog. Maybe I should consider that. The effect is quite different.

Excellent reminder of that horrific day, but at least we all became closer connected as a country.

What a lovely photo and tribue. It really doesn't seem like that long ago does it. We were in South Korea not far from Seoul when it happened. We didn't have an english TV channel at that time of night (it was late night there when it happened) and teh Internet was down for days thanks to all the traffic so it seemed so scary and surreal.

We were recently in New York and visited the 9/11 Memorial. It is a beautiful and sensitive dedication to all who died in this tragic event. It seems hard to believe that it was 12 years ago. A timely reminder, thank you.
